288 - Another Meal

I am trying to eat healthier.  Everything here is organic except the small slice of Laughing Cow cheese in the spinach topping the Angus beef patty.

Best steak at Lupe Tortilla.  Every single time I go there, this is what I order. I had already started eating when I remembered the POD.

285 - President Andrew Jackson

Update: Two hundred years later, it is hard to understand his point of view or his culture.  But the more I learn about President Jackson, the more my feelings are mixed.  On the one hand, he was a hero and defender of America during the War of 1812-specially his valiant and brilliant defense of New Orleans.  But later he architected and presided over the "Trail of Tears."  This mass ethnic resettlement, today would be considered a war crime.

284 - Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt

By all accounts a man's man, President Roosevelt is the only president ever awarded the Medal of Honor (2001) for his action with the Rough Riders in Cuba.  He was also the first president to use the moniker "White House" on his stationary, and even more important-the Teddy Bear was named after him.  I would exhort you to follow the links.

Created by David Adickes Scuplturworx
Some of the presidents that have served our country during my lifetime, starting the president Truman(L)  to president Obama(LF).  I visit often and see more things each trip.

281 - What Might Have Been

John F. Kennedy (May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963)
I clearly remember that fateful November 22, 1963, when Camelot was destroyed.  Small liberties taken to fix some imperfections since it was not finished yet.

274 - The Set Up

This week I am experimenting with water droplets.  I  want to figure out how to create great images of water droplets.

This is my getup for the water droplet project.  I metered the light, verified with a frame and then started.  This shows a Canon film camera with a wide macro lens.  I am also shooting a D70.  The best image seems to come from the 50mm f1.8 Nikkor lens.

The problem I am trying to find a solution to, is how to get make the right droplets.

273 - Huevos Rancheros Redux

I watched the cooking show "Two Fat Ladies" Saturday night where they covered Huevos Rancheros which was in Season 2 Episode 5-Breakfast.  These ladies rock!  I started having a craving for it.  This morning I took my 19/30 day off and decided to stay home and cook.

The Ranchera sauce is simple and appeals to my own tastes.  Fire roasted tomatoes, a clove of garlic, 3 tablespoons of onions, 3 of bell peppers, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin and paprika.   A tablespoon chopped cilantro.  Salt and pepper to taste. Very simple and sweet. I blend it, then simmer it until it gets thicker.

Poached free range eggs,  corned beef hash-with turkey corned beef.  Tortillas made in my kitchen on my press.

272 - Public Art: WWII Memorial

I have been in a kind of funk about my photography.   I just don't seem to have the time to do it justice right now, and I don't just want to throw something up.  This morning was cold and cloudy, but I felt I needed to do something different.

251 - Empty Road

Chameleon and Blue Drifter.

Taking off.

This road was completely empty, and completely quiet in both directions.

A mile into the field, we gathered to put Chameleon away.  She ran well.
