Another Pano

Digital Panorama 4 images
Today was a great day starting out with a great launch from Chappell Hill.  I love this picture because it begins to show country, something you don't get to see much in Houston-and I live in the 'burbs.   The heat felt good with a cool gentle breeze until about 10:00 or so, when we put the envelope in the trailer.  Then the heat got me.

Sat August 20th

[iPhone Photo]
Meet up was 6:45 today and I got up early enough to get to Starbucks.   As I got in my car, lo and behold, Dale and Laura drove by.  So I followed.  This is going south on Highway 6, south of the infamous Patterson Road.

The Launch site, just down the street from last week's flight.  Kit was actually working that one.

In a California Kinda Mood

I've been thinking of making another trip to California.  Need to see my family, my mentor, and go walkabout with my brother.  We run around like a chicken without a head carrying all kinds of photo gear. This one is of a Bodie, California, a ghost town being kept in arrested decay.  You can read a little more here.

This is a cropped pano made of three vertical images.  I ran it through my favorite preset on Aperture and cropped in PSE8-that's it.

PS: Standing in the left foreground is my brother Roland taking his own shots.

PPS: For extra points, twelve and half miles away from Bodie, a hydroelectric plant was built which made Bodie one of the first places that had long distance transmission of electricity for the stamp mill.

Saturday's Launch

Today was a little different, had a fellow co-worker, Derek Garrett, from Perth join us today.  He is in the US for a couple of weeks giving Tom a hand on a new and complex project.  Got him on film I am afraid.  I love telling anyone who will listen what a friendly group of people we are-he found that out first hand.

Gawd, I am so not a morning person!  This is still before 7AM and I've already raised my tired bones  from my all to comfortable bed, got the babies situated and then started driving to the staging area (99 and Fry Road today), and then, after checking the PiBall, off to to the launch site.

Cool things today, Stacey & Bimmer are back from their honeymoon.  Got to see Kit and his lovely wife again.  Derek of course.  Jennifer is doing so well with the driving.  She was able to back up Beau's truck and trailer for basket loading.
