Haunted Patterson Road

Welcome to Haunted Patterson Road.  Looks pretty benign, and in fact downright beautiful right now doesn't it?  At night this road, which connects Eldridge Parkway and Highway 6, is pitch black.  It is said that a bloody civil war battle was fought near here, and that if you park your car on that bridge ahead, at night, you will hear tapping on the sides of your car by soldiers-ghosts who died here.

I have driven this road when it is pitch black and believe me it is spooky.  Once, going to work while it was still black,  I heard the tapping.  I stepped on the gas. I did not stop.  I did not jump out with my recorder (there is an app for that too) and start yelling, "Does anyone here want to talk to me?"   Tom keeps trying to talk me into it.  Not gonna happen!  You can read about this road in the book Weird Texas.

181 - Haunted Patterson Road II

Last night I helped Tom work on some Netapp Filers.  Well, mostly I just hung out with him during the outage and helped him when he needed an extra pair of hands.  I drove through Patterson Road at about 9:30 PM and this was the scene.  I am stopped just before the bridge and took this picture with the iPhone.  The only changes made were crop to remove part of auto dashboard.

Back at end of March I blogged about Haunted Patterson Road and included a link to some information.  The story goes that during our Civil War, a battle was fought here and that at night, if you park your auto on the bridge and turn off your lights and engine, that you will hear the tapping of the lost souls walking past.

I was going to work on day very very early.  It was still pitch black outside,  when I heard thumps on the car in places that should not have been thumping.  It made me speed up.

Meet up was 6:45 today and I got up early enough to get to Starbucks.   As I got in my car, lo and behold, Dale and Laura drove by.  So I followed.  This is going south on Highway 6, south of the infamous Patterson Road.

The Launch site, just down the street from last week's flight.  Kit was actually working that one.
