Dinner Today

[iPhone Image]
I went to Java Java Cafe for breakfast this morning and I did not want to go out again today.  What I want to do is start watering my lawn and watch Film Noir movies.  Plus I wanted to eat a little healthier as well.

Soup

Homemade chicken soup in the refrigerator  made with rotisserie chicken. Most of the stock was made from the carcass, adding a little organic low sodium stock.  Tomatoes, garlic, onions and other veggies I found that struck my fancy, went in the pot.  Bay leaf and other spices gave it a nice subtle flavor. Finished it with cilantro and smoked salt flakes.

Sandwich

This is where I went a little bad.  Toasted Sourdough with a layer of cream cheese (light and spreadable with chives), some olive mash and sliced boiled eggs. Rounded the entire thing with a iced homemade jasmine tea-should take care of some free radicals.

This morning I went to Java Java Cafe. I trudged in like I normally do, a Startbucks' venti cup in hand.  Today they let me taste their Southern Pecan Coffee and it was good.  This is their Border omelete-it did not have pickled jalapeno chiles, so I loved it.  Gawd I love their potatoes.   I drove from Katy to The Heights for this.

The Gang

[35mm Film Scan FujiColor ISO 400]
Trying to decide on which image to post is always difficult.  This year I want to focus more on the group-the family.  Today we met a kind couple who offered their back porch to celebrate the morning's flight.  Here, Dale is telling the story of how at the dawn of the balloon age, in France, the balloonists would carry wine and champagne to prove they were not aliens.  To his right are the happy newlyweds.  He ends with the invocation of the Balloonist's Prayer

The Balloonist's Prayer

The winds have welcomed you with softness.
The sun has blessed you with his warm hands.
You have flown so high and so well
that God joined you in laughter
and set you gently back into
the loving arms of Mother Earth.

Actually left the house without film.  I wound up stopping at the gas station by the Lazy Mule Saloon and they hooked me up!  But here is a picture of Chameleon so you can get your fix.  (Of course I use the word "picture" because it is actually on film...)

Chile Rellenos Redux

Today has been a beautiful day already.  We met at the Lazy Mule Saloon (well the others did) and launched from the museum.  Met a great MD and his wife who invited us to sit a spell on the back porch of his ranch and had fun with the happy couple who celebrated their nuptials by going on a flight.

Then it was trying to decide if I wanted to go to Bellville (down 36), or Chappell Hill Cafe (290)?  Tried the Harris County Smokehouse which has a great breakfast and all were busy.  So I want home and made chile  rellenos.

This chile relleno has homemade picadillo and cheese sitting on a home made ranchera sauce with roasted organic tomatoes, roasted garlic, onions and a kiss of cilantro.  Home made refried beans with no lard.  The plate is small, which Bob E. should really like.  "Portion Control" is his mantra.  I really need to practice it.

PS: I got a bunch of plates for my birthday.  Special thanks to my family for these.

Flowers

[35mm Film Scan, Kodak Gold 200]

I have been quiet for a couple of weeks.  I think I needed some time off.  For more than a year I have been taking photos and posting every day-and needed a rest.  Now I am getting restless to start the process again.
