Java Java Cafe - New Decor

Today I had a hankering for Benedict at Java Java Cafe.  So I schlep to The Heights and behold-a drastic change!   I had an Avocado Benedict with a good French roast coffee.  The food was great as usual, the service attentive and friendly.

They painted the place.  Please hurry and take a gander at the Google Maps link before it is changed.  What you see above is what made me stop the first time I passed by it.  I captured an image. The next time, I stopped and had breakfast.  Have quite a few since I found it. Wow!

The owner has owned the place for some 20 years.   He says business has doubled since he has made the changes.  But this is what I had to look at as I parked.

Went to my breakfast tacos place this AM and they had roasted chicken and beef fajita by the pound. So I made my own tacos.  Beef fajitas with roasted onion and jalapeño chiles, cilantro and a squeeze of lime when it was time to eat.

Jalapeño and cheese tamales, refried beans, grilled jalapeño peppers, and hot sauce.  Got the tamales from Ms. Glenda, and the peppers are from her garden as well.

Nov 15, Day One - My Chucks

Tom and I have been discussing how our 360 projects was so much work.  Too daunting to try right now.   So we decided (I think) to try doing a new smaller project.  From now until the end of the year we will post a pic a day.  It must have come from the camera on your phone-though it does not have to have  been done that day.  So, first I want to show off my Chuck Taylors from Converse.

Sanctum Sanctorum

I think I am not understanding what at 19/30 means.  Or is it that I do so very well?

As I write this my house smells... Wonderful!  I am making 5 spice chicken in the crockpot and I can not wait until it is done-`round dinnertime.

I am giving away most of my furniture and what I choose to replace it will be new.  The bed has not been made because Seth decided to be a sleepy head today.  I got a new mattress this weekend, Serta. Thinner and firmer than the old one.  Also got a new TV for the bedroom. 47" LED 3D HDTV.  Now I have to be careful not get dizzy.   Trying to decide what artwork to put up.

This morning started at 5 when the babies wanted to go out.   By 10, I had gone to Starbucks, had breakfast (Harris Country SmokeHouse), paid mortgage, paid water, visited the babies doctor for meds and to set up an appointment, looked at art at a couple of stores.  Quiet lunch of Pho Ba. Some prep for dinner, kitchen cleanup and now for a nappy...

It's Been a While

It has been a while since I posted anything on here-hit-and-running Facebook.  Life has a way of messing up our best plans.  Well,  I've started shooting my Nikon digital again after almost a year of almost exclusively shooting film.  It was not even having it powered.  I had to ask Tom to loan me his charger, because I couldn't find mine.

I wanted to put up a few images of Seth when I took him to a launch.

Quick Dinner Tesday

Wheat tortellini with three cheeses.  Sause is roasted Roma tomatoes with roasted garlic, sautéed thinly sliced onions.  Topped with freshly grated parmigiano reggiano.  Taken on my stove with my Fuji digital.

Today's Flight

Today we launched from the Home Depot on 99 and Fry Road.  Captain Dale landed for a bit, but it would have been so difficult he wound up landing at the Houston Executive Airport.  It was a little rocky at first as we tried to get their attention to let us in.

These guys rocked. They not only let us in, they lead us via taxiways to the landing spot. I did not take many pictures of the airport for obvious reasons but wanted to show how invaluable their help was.  The above is of the truck that lead us to the landing site.

In this second image, you can see is a takeoff happening behind us as we rushed to get Chameleon buttoned back into the box.

The Illusion?

This was a test shot I did after powering on my D70 after 8 months.  Then as I looked at it, I think I noticed the illusion that the rectangle is not square.  Am I just nuts?

Today's Dinner

This was my dinner tonight.  A BLTA with wheat bread and bacon coming from the Chappell Hill Meat Market.  Luscious ripe tomato and a perfect avocado.  I think you can see the differences in thickness on the cut of bread.  I need to get better.  The salad is a spicy dijon red potato salad. I  had one on Wednesday at work and it rocked. I really liked this one as well.

The Egg and I

Patty is always finding new places to eat so I figured I would check out Egg and I before I suggested it.  The waitstaff was friendly, if not very fast and efficient.  The coffee nowhere near what I used to-but as a caveat, I always get coffee, black, bold at Starbucks.  My food arrived too cool but the taste was good.  I think when I go back and try something new next time to see if they can be placed on my rotation.

Birthday Breakfast.

Today I snuck off and went to my Arandas. I have heard good and bad about them, but I only go to mine.  Started with Huevos Ranchero, added chorizo ala Mexicana, a little pic and avocado slices. It was a dream.  Of course I had Starbucks coffee.

Today we tried to launch from Royal High School in Brookshire, TX.  Getting there I got lost and exited the freeway looking for a place to stop and check my GPS.  Once I got my bearings, I drove to the turnabout and saw...

Dinner Yesterday

I though about going out for dinner, or grabbing "something quick."  Instead I did my first attempt at chicken and cheese enchiladas, with a Hatch chile enchilada sauce.  Yum-Yummy!

First Day of My Vacation

Today we got up and used the bathroom at 5AM.  I puttered around for about an hour and went back to bed. We exploded out of bed at the crack of 11AM!!!

As I tried to figure out what I wanted to eat, I remembered I have pastrami, and I have some great swiss cheese.  So...  Not shown is the stone ground spicy mustard I added on top.

In the Moment - Seth's Closeups.

So I am talking with Seth, trying to get him to understand that he is full of youthful vigor and that he needs to let me take pictures for "Seth Sightings" on my Facebook page.  I told him he needed to get "in the moment" for his closeups and that I would give him a few moments to prepare.

He closed his eyes and moved his head around for a few moments. Then I told him I was ready, and yelled "pose!"  He opened his eyes and flawlessly started to pop!

Since he's only 4 months old I figured I would let him off the hook.  He did well.  Then started digging up Grandma's garden.

Fiery Chicken Wings

They had a sale on chicken wings Friday. 20 for 5 bucks!  So, I got some Yacatan Sunshine, made with Habanero peppers.  And of course, a Shiner Bock so cold that when you pop the cap a spiral of ice forms in the center of the bottle.

Seth Sighting

It takes so much work to get an image of Seth.  He is always moving.  He's gone from 4.5 lbs the week after xmas to 20 lbs today.  A bruiser of puppy.  The his dr. was so amazed at the size of his paws. The latest bet is Basset Hound/Beagle in him.

Trying to Eat Healthier

Tomato soup with chopped basil.  A wrap made of spring mix and spinach, thinly sliced red onions, a fat free vinaigrette and roasted chicken breast.  I am trying to eat a little healthier now that we seem to have a rash of people around my age dying.

I love this image. It is a chance shot.  My baby boi does have sharp nails.  And sharp teeth.  He thinks it's funny to sink them in you.
